Creating your new smile
The number and length of appointments will vary depending on the type and quantity of treatment required. However, so long as gum health is good, major changes to the smile can often be completed in only 2 visits.
If porcelain veneers are used the teeth are minimally prepared to allow the veneers to fit flush on the teeth. This is carried out under local anaesthetic to eliminate sensitivity. Accurate impressions are then taken and temporary veneers are fitted so your teeth will look no different until the next visit.
Our laboratory then uses the impressions, the imaging picture and detailed instructions to custom fabricate your veneers to our exact specifications.
At the next visit the temporaries are removed and the veneers are fitted and polished. Special light-cured adhesives are used to ensure trouble-free and long-lasting results.
Porcelain veneers – A veneer is a new front surface for a tooth, custom made from porcelain. Veneers are extremely versatile and can be used to align crowded or protruding teeth, close gaps or lighten tooth colour. Their strength and appearance rivals that of natural teeth and they are used to make long lasting changes to the smile.
Porcelain crowns – Crowns are used to restore severely broken down teeth. Most crowns are made of porcelain, like veneers, and look every bit as natural, leaving no black line at the gum level as seen with some traditional crowns.
Tooth Whitening – Healthy teeth that have yellowed with age or stained from coffee, red wine or smoking usually respond well to whitening. Whether you choose Zoom, the as seen-on-TV Extreme Makeover in-chair whitening system, or a more economical home whitening kit, the effect is equally good. Top-up gel is supplied to maintain the result.
Gum Reshaping – For those clients with low or uneven gum levels, a laser gum reshaping treatment can be performed to correct this. If a client has a gummy smile a painless gum lift can be offered.
Tooth replacement – Missing teeth can be replaced with implants or bridgework. Great results can be achieved by combining the latest advanced materials and gum management techniques to make replacement teeth appear to emerge from the gum like a natural tooth.
Cosmetic bonding – Bonding is a process in which an enamel-like material is applied to a tooth’s surface. It can be used to restore minor chips and close small gaps, often completed in one appointment.
Cosmetic contouring – This is a quick and simple way to reshape and tidy your smile. Cosmetic contouring works well to smooth minor chips, reshape pointy teeth or redefine teeth that have worn flat.
White fillings – There are a number of tooth coloured amalgam-free filling materials available. The most suitable options for your teeth are discussed and recommended during your first appointment.
Snap-on Smile – This is a patented, easy and painless way to obtain an enhanced smile when cost, time or dental phobia are a major factor as no tooth preparation is required.
Non-specialist Orthodontics – More commonly referred to as “braces”, this allows teeth to be re-positioned to their optimal position for cosmetics and function. We limit treatment to those cases which have problems appropriate to our level of skill, training and experience.
Porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges are guaranteed for a period of five years, providing the following conditions are met:
The client attends a minimum of two hygiene sessions in each year following completion of treatment and has followed the treatment and recommended maintenance programme. The restorations have not been damaged by additional dental treatment or by trauma, bone disease or gum disease. There is no outstanding balance on the account.
All work is automatically guaranteed for one year. Smilecare Dental Studio reserves the right to replace failed restorations with a different material or procedure as necessary.
